I had remodeled 2 bathrooms totally, with new tub toilet sink and vanity faucets etc. with city permits and all. About 8 -10m months after we had toilets backed up 2 toilets were back to back I thought the construction debris must have caused this. Luckily one guest 1/2 bath was still minus sink and toilet. They opened the guest bathroom toilet whole to have the cleanout done very bad situation. Paid 400.00
since then I feel the bathrooms don't smell fresh as they should. The smell is not **** smell. I can't describe it. Is there any product that I can use in toilets or tub and how to get them smelling fresh again?
I used kabob in master bed room after the toilets were backed up to have a thorough clean up in standup shower, with newly marbled tiled etc. My mistake I let Kaboom sit overnight on tiled floor in shower, since then that bathroom also smells no good. Could it be that the grout is seeped with Kaboom. I am afraid to use more cleaning stuff. Please guide me. Guest bathroom is now updated with vanity and toilet and hardly used. I smell funny there too. My husband says there is no window in that bathroom as such the new Vanity may be smelling of varnish. Is there a way to get that varnish smell out? Please advise. I keep all toilets clean; have a weekly thorough cleaning done, air fresheners are not working. I need to know if there is an effective way to fix the problem.

are these bathrooms being used? if not it could be as simple as a dry trap.a p-trap has water in it. and it keeps the sewer smsll, from getting into the house.you also said that the bath was not finished. a pipe could be open letting in sewer gas, tape the end of the pipe
and put water in the traps

Thanks for your advise. Bathrooms are being used and they are complete. Is there any thing that I can put in the water draining whole/ I see some meldue but cant open the brass cover.
It seems and I dont want to make things worst. I used baking soda overnight but didn't make much difference.
Does professional plumbers use something to get make the bathroom smell good? Guest batghroom is not used daily as such I flush the toilet every other day. There is a ring around the water rim! Ajax doesn't help.

now that you killed the mildew.....
where is it coming from?
mildew loves wet areas. what is causing the dampness?
you got a leak?
what ever it is, you have to fis it
what was that brass cover? that you mentioned earlier?

If the sewer backed up as you say it did then the vent could be block causing the drains to be sucked dry every time the toilets flushed allowing gas into the room.
Are there exost fans in these bathrooms?

you can check the vent for the toilei like this
place paper towels over the bowl, completly
covering. flush the toilet
if the paper pumps or sucks down your vent has been compromised
a drainage system is a gravity system, a vent
allows the system to drain by elimating air pressure from the system.
to demonstre this; put a straw in a glass of water. put your finger over the end of the straw and pick it up out of the water.
the water stays in the syraw..no vent
so if the paper towel pumps down or is sucked down. this shows that your finger is on the straw
