I installed engineered hardwood floors and my measurement and math must not have been correct. I am at the end against the wall and when I out the base molding back on I still have a quarter inch gap. I need suggestions on ideas for fixing this
Add 1/4 round or shoe moulding.
Joe's right. Floating floors are designed to fit underneath the base so they can expand if needed. Also, since you'll rarely find a perfectly level floor, you add qtr round or shoe molding to contour to the slight ups and downs of the floor.
Qtr round is 3/4" x 3/4" while shoe is 3/4" tall by 3/8". Either one gets nailed into the base. You need to install this anyway to make it look finished and it will also cover that 1/4" gap.
1/4 round can be 1/2 X 1/2, 3/4 X 3/4, shoe most often is 1/2 X 3/4.
Do not nail it through the flooring, just attach to the baseboard.
