Removing Linoleum Glue/Adhesive
Removed 20+ yrs linoleum from a concrete basement floor. Some paper backing and glue/adhesive remains. What is the best (and easiest) way to remove? Wanting to paint concrete floor once "clean".

This worked for me, but I did not paint it:

I removed linoleum in our basement bathroom, prior to installing tile. I scraped up some of the adhesive with the linoleum and took it to our local paint store or Menards box store (cannot recall which) They were able to try a couple adhesive removers on the sample I brought in, and sell me the right one. A long handled floor scraper is going to help the process, if you don't already have one.

if it's petroleum-based glue (usually black, sometimes brown) then mineral spirits will eventually remove it with reduced flame/giddiness issues from many other solvents. if white or grey, it's a polymer, a soy or orange based remover should help you out. best way is to test, there are always glues from Heck out there.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
