Totally renovating a 40 yr old condo that will be rental property. Told to pick floor color tone before other decisions. Planning to use a good laminate like Pergo (unless get convinced to use something else)in all but bedrooms and baths. What color tone for a rental? The big question-which color tone holds up best in high use? Told darker colors are out because show dust so bad though beautiful.Medium does well some say. What about light laminates like bamboo? How do lighter color tone hold up in high traffic over time? Do they show marks etc.. too much for a rental? Told to decide this before we plan the other materials. So are medium or light laminate floors best for a rental? Anyone have favorite laminate/ experience brand over time? Does anyone have opinion about which laminates are DIY friendly or too hard too much breakage?

The most DIY friendly floating floor I know of is Schon flooring - sold through Lumber Liquidators. Runs about $4 per SF but goes together easily, stays together and looks good. Not sure about best colors but would lean towards the lighter end as they would hide any surface scratches better. Jaybee
