My husband and I are in the process of buying an older home that needs a lot of updating. We are DIYing a lot ourselves, but we want to get the floors done professionally.
Anyone know of good flooring companies (in Wisconsin Area) that have decent prices? Empire Today? Home Depot?
How much does a decent contractor charge for floor installation?
what are you looking for, scratch floors or prefinished?
first companies I'd check out are Lumber Liquidators and Menards. but any smaller full-service company locally that price-matches the material is worth talking to, as well.
prefinished flooring is pretty simple to put down over a good subfloor; just lay the underlayment after clearing the floor to subfloor and putting KILZ primer over any stains, line up the first row of flooring, and nail or staple through the tongue.
many videos and tips on this site and others on laying the floor.
sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
