Several of the DIY shows appear to be laying cork flooring in bathrooms. How are they avoiding the inherent problems of excess moisture in bathrooms? I can find no outlet that sells a cork flooring product that is guaranteed for bathrooms; to include Home Depot. In fact they all advise AGAINST it.

If you follow the manufacturers specs for floating floors, most say they can be used in moisture prone areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. To do so, they recommend sealing around all edges with silicone - which will still allow for expansion and contraction of the floating floor but in theory will block out water spills from getting under the floor. There are a few manufacturers who will recommend against installing floating floors in kitchens and baths.

That's what they say. They are the manufacturer and should know what their product can and cannot do.

However, as a contractor I recommend against installing floating floors in kitchens and baths (utility rooms too). There is just no way to completely keep water from getting underneath the floor in the event of a spill. It's one of those things that eventually is going to happen and once it does there is no way to dry the floor without removing it. The flooring may be able to withstand the moisture, but having moisture trapped under the floor is just as bad as a buckled floor surface.
