Have bamboo flooring. Kitchen pipe broke last year and flooded entire floored area. Now parts are rotten, so guess I didn't get up all the water. How do you replace just the bad bamboo planks? thanks ahead of time. max

You have to first cut out all the bad stuff by setting a circular saw to a 3/4" depth. Once the first few pieces are removed it gets easier.

You can install new pieces back in the normal fashion by nailing through the tongues. This works until you reach a piece that fits in-between two original rows of flooring. For this, you'll have to tap shorter planks in - this usually means doing the tap install on left and right, then fitting a piece in the middle.

Eventually, you will have some final pieces that must have the tongue or underside of the grove cut off and be face nailed.

If your damaged area is anywhere near the edge of the floor, it's usually easier to remove more planking - even if it's not damaged - so you can install everything without weaving it in place.

Wear and tear can lead to a dull appearance, drying or warping. To renew, seal and protect the surface, the bamboo requires refinishing.
