Different size tiles?!?
Laying 16x16 porcelain tile in my dining room & kitchen. I am using 2 different dye lots, which I am ok with because the rep at Lowes told me the only difference in dye lots could be some slight variations in coloring.

Started laying the tiles today and after running 5 rows 12 foot long I am finding that the differnt dye lots are actually 1/8 of an inch different all the way around.

Is this normal? Should the rep at Lowes known this and informed me of this possibility?

TIA

Totally normal especially with lower priced tile from different lots. Different dye lots will always make for different lots, so exact size will not be 'exact'. Some tiles may be the same but some could be different. It's really a crap shoot when buying from different lots or at different times.

Very, very , very few of employees at big box home improvement stores know very much about home improvement products.

TIA

OK. Seems now that I have to pop the tiles up and remove the thinset before I can start all over using just the one size of tile.

I have the tiles popped up and am at the removing thinset step in this process, is there an easy(er) way to get this chore finished.

I was thinking my soniccrafter with a rigid scraper blade. Any thoughts?!?

The soniccrafter should be about the easiest. You may want to give a go with just a flat scraper blade by hand too. At least the fresh thinset should still be a little soft.
