What is the best direction to lay a laminate wood floor in a narrow space?

JaybeeWhile there is no hard and fast rule, in general it is better to run the planks in the shorter direction. This will visually make the narrow dimension appear wider as your eye follows the direction of the planks.

joecaptionIf your talking about like in a hall way I'd run it along the longest wall not across the short way.
Reasons being are far less waste, it just looks goofy.
In most cases you'll find doing it the long way matches up with the direction all the flooring in the other rooms will be running.

tracy 7_11Jaybee that is what I thought also, My husband diagrees. It is in our kitchen which is a gally style and only 4 ft wide at the floor. I'm afraid laying it parallel to the cupboards will make it seen even more narrow than it already is. Thank You for your reply!!!
