The guy two doors down from me has this border, and it's exactly what I want. I have a few questions about how to do this. First, is it possible/reasonable to cut the limestone I have into clean squares or rectangles similar to this? The limestone I have was left over from when they built my house, and it is rectangular but it's a little more rough around the edges than these. Second, what type of base would I need? I'm new to landscaping, so be gentle please :-) Lastly, what mortar mix would I need? A friend told me they have dye to whiten it up like what's pictured, but I've never seen or heard of that before. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Chris-

Someone here may be able to help you but I would suggest that you also post your question and pics on the Outside Projects message board. There are most builders that post to that than you'll find here.

Hope you get your answers!

Hi Chris,

Here's another place you could ask. Do read their rules and regulations before you post. Here's their main page and where to post your question and pics. It would be helpful to add your state and hardiness zone as you have done here.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
