Also looking good; nice clean neat lines. You must be feeling a lot better about the yard as the progress continues.

Thanks again for sharing.

I'm not really sure; I've never had to cultivate my lawn - it just grows even though it's not what anyone would call a lush lawn. It's my garden that requires so much attention Cool

My first thought is too much fertilizer, especially with watering 3x daily. I'm sorry that I don't recall where you're located, but if you're not in a drought area, I'm wondering if that's too much watering in combination with fertilizer.

Are you using a high nitrogen fertilizer? How did you prepare the subsoil before laying sod? Was it good soil, friable, or something like clay?

I tried to access the earlier photo of the front yard but apparently it's no longer there, so I couldn't refresh my memory on what it looked like before.

I do recall that the back yard had a lot of sand and probably not a very good base. That may be the problem with the front yard as well, but again, my bet is on the combination of fertilizer and 3x day watering.

You might pull up one of the sod pieces and see if the roots underneath have even started to blend in with the soil, and/or if the roots are dying as well. Then use a hoe to loosen the soil and see if it's even accepted any of the roots. If not, then for some reason the sod isn't blending with the soil. And I think, again, that would be a soil prep issue.

Let me know what you find.

Perhaps someone who's more knowledgeable about lawns can offer more insight.

Here is the front yard from beginning to right now. We are at 95% done. We just need to finish the tree in front of the house... then all focus on the backyard....

Wow - nice photos. I got mixed up between the front and the back yard so will spend some more time looking everything over. Thanks for sharing; it's really, really nice to follow someone's project, especially when I can just sit back and watch while someone else does all the work Big Grin .

I love flowers of just about any kind, especially the pink coneflowers. Also like the pyramidal shape of the brick planter flowers. Planters are lovely too.

You've really done a great job changing the yard.
