I have become somewhat a fan of Desperate Landscapes. But I have noticed something very crucial that is missing from this show. Being an owner of an irrigation company in Orlando, Fl. I could not help but notice the complete void of the neccessary water it takes to sustain these beautiful landscape jobs that Jason installs. I think he has a great eye for design. However I believe he is doing these people an injustice by leaving them "high and dry". I have watched the show many times only to be left wondering what these poor people, who could not maintain weeds, are going to do with a yard full of very expensive and water needy plants when Jason leaves.

Not all areas of the US will need a sprinkler system. I would hope that Jason explains how to care for the new plantings. I've seen several types of plant material used by Jason that have made me scratch my head too. I remember one landscape where he planted lots and lots of mums for color and I was thinking, "Does that homeowner realize there will be no color in the front of their house for most of the year and do they know about pinching those plants so they grow in a tight clump?" Some of the plant choices Jason makes don't seem practical for the novice gardener, but that's just my opinion. Hopefully there is some educating going on in the background that we aren't aware of.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
I'm no landscaper, but I love this show too, and have been wondering the same thing. I sure hope he shares his hidden knowledge of the plants he chooses for the homeowners, with the homeowners.
