I need to do landscaping or something next to my house where gas fireplace vent is but I am not sure what to do. The previous owners had three bushes there and the bushes died. It is on the back side of the house and faces west. It gets the afternoon and evening sun. There is no shade in that area. Must indure midwest weather. Any suggestions???
Others here likely know more about what is vented from a gas fireplace vent, so I'm only guessing when I wonder if the fumes and/or heat from the vent killed the prior shrubs. If so, I'm not sure what you could put there unless it was protected or very low so it wasn't in the path of the fumes/whatever is vented.
It looks like a dryer vent. The scrubs were not the proper ones for that area. They required lots of water and there is no hydrant on the back of the house. The other plants and grass near it are fine.
