I received this plant as a gift from a friend but unfortunately it didn’t have a tag and I can't figure out what variety of plat it is. If has recently started to die and I have no clue how to best care for it. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it.
I think it's one of the Dracenas.
This is a different variety of Dracena than the photo you posted, but the care advice would likely be similar.
The link is long; if you can't get to the site, google "Dracenas" and go from there.
The photo you posted is of a very, very healthy plant. I see no evidence of decline.
If you want more diagnosis on the decline of the plant, please post a photo showing the areas that are dying. I.e., are the leaves dying from the tip or base?
How often are you watering it? Did you replant it after receiving it?
GardenSprite.. I have read many of your post and learned a great deal, that's why I'm not happy to be the one to tell you this.
The link you supplied brings us right back to this page.
Whoops! Wonder how I did that? I recall having some trouble with the links. Maybe I was tired and put the wrong one in. My sincere apologies, and thanks for having the tact to point out my mistake!
I've checked again; here are a couple links which should take you to a site with info on dracenas:
http://www.missouribotanicalga...aspx?kempercode=b591. This shows a dracena (or dracaena) with similar foliage and style, but slightly differently coloring.
And here are a few more photos of the taller dracenas, with some tips on using them for indoor pollution control.
Again, my apologies to anyone who tried to find a legitimate link and wondered what frame of mind I was in when I posted.
