Hi Shadow 1-- Don't have the answer BUT I googled ants on tomatoes and there seems to be all kinds of info there depending on your situation. HTH, helper
Shadow, you may have aphids on your tomatoes and the ants are attracted to their honeydew (waste). Look for them on the stems and undersides of leaves. Use insecticidal soap for the aphids. Spray every 5 to 7 days until they are gone. You can make your own. http://www.care2.com/greenliving/homemade-insecticidal-soap.html

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
