I need some ideas on how to do some "temporary" landscaping.. we dont stay in one place for too long and since we live in houses that arent technically ours, I was wondering what I can do for landscaping in our front and back yard to make it look good while we are living there. any ideas??

I think the first question is what are you allowed to do? I assume there are some limitations on what you can and can't do since it's base housing.

Can you plant annuals, perennials, shrubbery?

The first thing that comes to mind, though, is the use of containers, which can be moved with you along with the plants. Or you can take cuttings of any plants you might want to save and move them in a smaller container to conserve space during moves.

It would also help to know what area you're in now, the approximate amount of sun and shade the house gets, the approximate number of trees in the yard that might affect what you plant, etc.

Photos would also be very helpful.

        And thanks for your service!

plants in pots are about all you can probably get away with legally, although you could bounce a question off the CO's office.

otherwise, heck, you know the rules... if it don't move, paint it... if it does, salute it.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

K_Jasper, can you provide more of a description of the house and yard, preferably with photos?

Is there any landscaping there now or is it just grass?

And how much time do you and your family have/want to spend on landscaping and upkeep?
