My wife and I have just put in a new paver patio and severely underestimated how high our lawn was. We put the paver stones in level with the sidewalk, but where they go across (4 foot section) and meet with the lawn it is about 4 inches higher in spots (It slopes towards the sidewalk). I am trying to figure out how to make it more of a grade so it's not so much of a tripping hazard. I have attached a couple of photos for reference.

I had exactly the same problem two weeks ago. I scraped the lawn back to make it a more gradual bank downward to the pavers. I saved the sod and replanted it. Nothing is easy is it?

I wasn't able to view your pictures, but, from what you describe it sounds similar to a situation that Mike Holmes encountered on one of his shows. The Holmes scenario was with a new asphalt driveway where the level of the grass was significantly higher than the level of the drive at the edge. Rather than scrape off the top level of the grass, Mike sliced out dirt under the grass roots and pushed the grass down so it sloped to the asphalt.

That is basically what I did. Removed the sod and sloped the dirt under and replaced the sod. Worked fine.
