Are you disabled and can't do the work yourself? Don't count on others, count on yourself. Post pictures, tell us what part of the country in which you live and a drawing and we can help you get started.

Ahmed is off charging premium prices to Californians and doing appearances at home/garden expos. better sell some of that Wall Street stock if you need him. first thing: how much ya got? if you've got a good base of weeds and mole tunnels, and $50 to spend for the year, you need a curtain so you can't see the back yard second thing, once you're there: what do you want out of the yard? if a party center, full dining and cooking, video cabana, etc. that's the cost of a car, professionally done. it's the cost of a decent used car if you spend all your summer doing it yourself. if you sneak up on it over several years, the patio this fall or next spring, that's a couple grand in pavers. built-in with grill and space for a dorm fridge, couple grand. on it goes. break it down into smaller steps, parcel them into projects, rank them in priority, get 'r' done as you can. if you have ideas for water features, power here and there, etc. don't do anything permanent until the lines are run and capped, so you don't rip up all the good stuff you've done. clip magazine pictures etc. and design your yard before doing anything major. sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
