pixiepurlsHelp me with this kitchen space - eating area
I have this lovely space right next to my kitchen. I was thinking of doing a built in there on the wall for a few purposes. I was dreaming of some sort of desk where I could fold it up or pull it down and it would become a space for a computer. There is a whole formal dinning room off to the left of the kitchen we can use to eat in and the house has no office space so I thought this area would be good because you don't see it when you first walk in (you see the dinning room instead and stairs and hallway).
So I think in the space we would probably need a table and we would snack at it but I want to turn this space more into a working space. So a built in with some sort of fold out small table top just for the computer, very small, and shelving for maybe some dishes to tie it to the kitchen and various books.
Ideas? Inspiration photos? Suggestions?
I have no idea how much it would cost. I'm also thinking about how it would look but built in and white probably? I am not sure how I would feel about a darker wood being used the kitchen is a medium toned wood with a dark gray top (you can see there on the left).

joecaptionAre you talking about along that flat wall right next to the door?
If so I'm seeing that was where the dinning room table should be going since there's an over head light right there.
Other then maybe a buffet table I feel any type of built in unit and a desk would make that small an area look cluttered and confusing.

JB BuilderI sort of see your idea and all i can think of is what i crafted up in the *.jpg image i have attached to this post.
Built-in desk, shelf combo, white, light rail instead of hanging.
I began by painting the wall redish color which looks good as accent wall but imagine the built-in in my picture is 100% filling the area with 24 inch depth to the counters and 14 inch depth to shelves above.
Also could add under-counter lighting somehow to make it pop. Eating table located behind this area against a wall with 2 stools, keep things tall nearby. I cannot see how the entrance to kitchen is from this area but i assume there is a wide entrance and the built-in could have an angled edge on the left to allow this entrance width.
Goodluck and let me know if you like my terrible photoshop'n lol Tnx. JB
