I see on a number of boards mention of an epoxy resin being used for faux concrete countertops. In particular they cite HGTV as being the source of the idea, but I'm having trouble finding any information on the process. My search skills may be inadequate or I'm just not looking in the right places. Anyone have a clue as to the process for DIYing faux concrete countertops?

I think you're misreading that it is faux countertops. what I think you are refering to is the chattahootchee stone, which is small pebbles embeded in epoxy. It is usually used as a decking surface, but has proven to be a dud for that purpose. You're use for a counter top sounds interesting though, the material will scratch and chip though

I did mistype the product mentioned, it is supposed to be epoxy grout, not epoxy resin. Still can't find anything on the process though.

I still can't find a site that explains the process. Is it just a matter of putting a skim coat (so to speak) on the existing countertops? I'm looking for a cost effective method of changing my coutertops until I can save up for the concrete pour. Any other ideas?

Hi, I also am interested in re-surfacing my very ugly very old laminate countertops with a concrete product. There is a DIY quick tip type of 2 minute infomercial that shows a way to actually spread the concrete over some sheets of wood on the countertop. I cannot seem to locate the product they use. The results on tv were amazing. Again, it is not the typical concrete countertop where one creates a form, and pours it, and then transfers it to the countertop frame. This is an actual concrete product applied to the countertop itself. Can anyone help? Thank you!

3 and 5 and 10 years down the road, NostrilDrippus Predicts! (tm) this will look ratty as old gym socks over the lights. and it's probably going to be cheaper to build a whole new countertop and put laminate on it. sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
