hello, i have a small kitchen and a low budget, the joists are exposed, i was thinking of using furring and tiles, but it seems a bit complicated to do by myself. is there any easy way to attach a ceiling right to joists? i can upload a picture of the ceiling. its an old house too
If the joists are all on the same plane than you already have what you need. Most common is to attach drywall - also the most affordable but getting the mud work right takes a learning curve.
You can also use other ceiling materials - beadboard, plywood etc depending on what look you want.
