I have a sink in my kitchen island and I am having a problem with a sewer smell under the sink. Does anyone have advice on how to get rid of this odor or maybe a way to ventilate it better?

Are you sure its not from a garbage disposer? It would help if you post pictures of the sink and the pipes under it. And is it a new construction, or how old is it? Lots of possibilities, pictures would help.

There are P traps on both the drains, but I am still getting that bad smell.

It could be from the disposal or maybe the diswashers. I have a double dishwasher that drains into the disposal. I don't know how to post a picture or I would, but how could I keep the smell out if it is the dispoal or dishwasher?

You could try running some baking soda through the disposal - may kill the smell.

Wondering if the drain is vented - often difficult to do in an island, especially if the island sink was added later as a DIY project. If you are not vented within 5' of the drain, then you may need to add a Studor vent inside the island cabinet.

to clean a garbage disposer you need a small store bought bag of ice , some 3-4 lemons cut into 1/4 s baking soda and vinegar... step 1 turn on disposer put some ice cubes into the disposer with a cup of baking soda and let it run until no more cubes are left ...step 2 after the cubes are all disposed of pour a cup of vinegar into unit and turn on unit for a few seconds... step 3 more ice cubes with 1/2 of the the cut up lemons and run the disposer again till all gone...step 4 let the cold water run for 3 minutes and repeat step 3...
this will clean your disposer and the pipes from the disposer to the drain.
i use 2 trays of ice cubes , baking soda and lemon every month and it keeps the smell under control and my kitchen aid disposer i purchased in 1981 clean and humming...

i also clean my dishwasher 2 times a year with 2 cups of baking soda in the detergent compartmen and the rest sprinkled inside the washer and run it empty a full cycle on hot.dishwasher is 14 years old.
