Peel and Stick Glass Mosaic Tile Falling off Adhesive Backing Sign In/Join
We are installing the DIY Peel and Stick tile to our kitchen backsplash. In several places the tiles are falling off the adhesive backing (the adhesive is sticking to the wall without any problem ) Are there any solutions for re-attaching the tiles. We have not yet applied the grout, because of the falling tiles. Not sure what glue/adhesive we should use to re-attach the tiles. Any solutions?? Becoming a real pain of a project !!

Welcome to THE REAL WORLD of DIY. It's not like they show on the tv. Missing parts, broken parts, product installation instructions that are wrong, special tools required to make this or that fit. Yep, LOL.

This is why anyone with knowledge and ability is worth more than "minimum wage".

If you have a caulk gun, you might try a tube of "construction adhesive". Or they sell tubs of adhesive. Don't use everyday elmers glue, you need something substantial. And I don't know if I'd trust the backing to stay on, you'll have to make that call. But you're not the only one to have this complaint.

        Hi mxd1,

Peel and Stick Glass Mosaic Tile can be used to create a nice back splash though as you have discovered it can have its issues.

If the tile is truly glass than whatever you use to reattach the tile may show through that tile and in so doing it may distort the desired look you wish to achieve as the colour of the adhesive may show through the tile. You might try construction adhesive if this is not an issue. You might also try colours of silicone caulking, clear, white, etc. Whatever you apply do so sparingly so that you do not have the excess ooze out and have an issue with cleanup, as well as have the tile standout too far for those surrounding it. You may even need to add a piece of painters trim tape to the tile surface to hold it in place which will then allow the adhesive to cure properly.

        Others may have additional suggestions.

        Good Luck!

I would return the material as defective for a refund or replacement. if it's falling apart during installation, I'd STOP AT ONCE and get rid of it. why put up defective stuff?

may have been storage, may have been shipment issues, may be a crummy idea, I don't know. right now, at a regional chain, I can get 12 x 12 Daltile sheets of glass tile for a buck and a half on sale. modified thinset is 12 bucks a bag I can hardly lift into the cart. a little mixing and a little mess that I can put a cheap tarp under, and it's a lifetime job that won't fall apart.

not all new technology packaging is better than the old ways.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

You are also able to save the project by using seam tape for wet areas or, as @Re-mdlr said, the tube of "construction adhesive" should work. And make sure that the rest of your tiles are well-attached.
Don’t forget to tell us how it all came out. Good luck!
