I am considering the purchase of a new fridge which may be slightly taller than the existing cabinet opening. We have the typical small cabinet over the fridge, which we almost never use. We are willing to potentially lose this cabinet in exchange for a much nicer fridge, so I set about exploring the feasibility of removing this cabinet.

I cut the right front edge and bottom back edge with a utility knife and then removed four screws that I saw: two at the bottom rear and two in the left face frame the hold the cabinet to the next cabinet to the left. The cabinet wiggles slightly at the bottom but appears to remain firmly attached to the wall.

Given the lack of removal of top screws, this is hardly surprising. The trouble is, I don't see an top screws. I looked up some basic cabinet removal steps via google and all sources mention removing bottom screws, top screws, and side screws. Obviously top screws are needed to securely hold the cabinet to the wall.

Please see images below. What I am missing here?

With it being such a small cabinet and having a cabinet to anchor to on the left and a wall on the right - there may not be any top screws. I don't think you are missing anything, I don't think they are there.

Could be that it's still hanging in there because of some glue or caulk, because the side of the cabinets are still stuck to the other cabinet and the wall just because it's been in place for so long or because it's stuck to the soffit above.

Speaking of the soffit, there looks to be a small piece of trim at the top of the front face of the cabinet. Any chance there are any nails or screws behind that going into the soffit?

In any event, try to break every surface free to see if you can isolate what area is still holding on. Just know that there do not HAVE to be screws on the top.

I don't see any screws at the top of any of the other cabinets, either (which is something I should have mentioned). Under the trim strip on top is where something may be (possibly fastening upwards into the soffit). Since the bottom of the cabinet will wiggle and the top won't budge, I do think there's something up there.

Since I am still in the feasibility phase I would prefer to not pry off the trim right now for fear of damaging the surfaces. These cabinets are pretty lightweight and crummy and I don't need to be making them look any worse right now.

Something does not look right on the right hand side of the cabinets.
It looks like someone for some reason inserted a panel of plywood.
Take a min. and compair the left and right hand sides.
The right looks like it sticks out further.
If so pop that panel off and see if it's hiding the screws.

I'm not sure what's leading you to think there is plywood on the right side. The interior left and right panels of the cabinet are inset the same distance from the face frame.

The interior panels are particle board and I will destroy them for sure if I try to pop them out (I experimented with this yesterday).

Were not there and only have pictures to go by. Look again at the pictures, the one on the right looks like it's flush with the face frame.

In the last picture posted it appears there are two holes in the middle at the top, are these screw holes or nail holes.? I didn't see anywhere that you marked these as removed.
