gas stove without vent?
We are remodeling a 100 year old house and uncovered a window 3x3 just above the stove. That window will be the focal point of the kitchen and will be seen from the dining room. It is also exactly were the vent would be. I orginally was going to have the stove and the vent going to the ceiling (9ft) but a stain glass window will be perfect, without a vent? People keep telling me "I never had a vent on a stove until recently. What do you think?

a vent keeps the fishy, oily, stinky smells out of your house
you had shrimp last nite?
if you can deal with the odor go for it
