We would like to redo our kitchen. I would love to have the sink centered under the window like in normal kitchens, however, due to the location of our window we wouldn't have any counterspace on the left side. Our contractor suggested that we move the sink to the corner that way both people could look out the window whilst doing the dishes. (now the washer person can look out the window, but the dryer person has to look at our ugly walls which is an entirely different post all together) So my question is this; if we move the sink to the corner, would it accomidate two adult bodies? I mean wouldn't it be a little cramped? I'm having a hard time picturing it. Any other solutions would be great!
Corner sinks work OK, but I'd only consider them after eliminating any other better location. Definitely too cramped for two people side-by-side doing dishes and it requires a specific cabinet layout and countertop cuts - both of which will cost a little more.
If you really want to upgrade and want to eliminate the need for two people washing and drying dishes maybe consider finding the 24" of base cabinet space to install a dishwasher.
Just as I suspected, it would be a tight fit. I'd never get my husband to help with the dishes. we do have a dishwasher, but there's always those extra dishes that don't/ won't fit. I guess we can just leave the sink where it is. (to the right of center of the window) and change the ugly walls. woot woot! thanks guys
after 30 years of a corner sink i got a sink along a wall.a cornersink is a total waste of space.i have all my cooking pots in the corner cabinet and on the counter a fantastic place for my 1968 kitchen aid mixer that i use all the time now because it's handy. there is no way that 2 people will be comfortable at a corner sink. the person drying the dishes should look at the person that washes the dishes (hahaha) while they chitchat.
I have a 1920's farm house last updated???? Who knows when. I believe the previous owners tried to redo the kitchen, but must have lost interest as they forgot to finish much.
My neighbor installed a corner sink and hates it. It is too small and set back too far due to the 90 degree angle issue. I've worked at her sink and it is very awkward.
