Hi, the starter on my truck has been acting up as of late and i was wondering if it's the starter or solenoid. It started up fine, then i drove it about 10 miles to a store and when i went to start it again nothing happened, not even a click. So i went underneath the truck and took a screwdriver and jumped the solenoid a couple of quick times while the key was off. after i did that the truck started right up, although it sounded a little sluggish. Does it sound like the starter has a dead spot in it. thanks in advance.

Since it didn't even click it's almost definitely a bad solenoid. A bad starter wouldn't keep the solenoid from making contact. Remote possibilities of a bad electrical connection, ignition switch, neutral start switch.

My truck did the same thing. I drove it, parked it for 6 months. The truck needed new batteries, I put them in and nothing. I left it for 1 week. Came back out to track what was going wrong and the batteries were dead. What do you think? Thanks

same thing????.... a shorted out solinoid and/or starter motor! the brushes are melted and making connection just like having the key on. the brushes inside the starer solinoid are just like the old points... remember them??? know what they are???
