I'm writing on behalf of my better half, so I'll do my best to describe the problem.
Our old '82 Park Avenue drove just fine till we stopped for gas and it wouldn't start after filling the tank. Had to have it towed home.
We found a burnt wire leading to the starter. Replaced the wire, still wouldn't start, so checked the starter and it was bad. We replaced that, it started and we drove it 1/2 mile, shut it off, now it won't start again. (We had also had the alternator checked and it checked out okay.)
You could have a live wire rubbing metal, check all the wires that you can see, sounds like it's grounded causing the fuse and starting problem. Good Luck.
