For the first time my Honda dealership suggested this service when I went for scheduled maintenance. In all my years and many cars, no one ever mentioned this before. Is this something that might have been in past "normal" service lists and I just did not know it, and now they are separating it because it costs a lot? Or is it not really necesaary and they want to make some money? They are pricing this at $150.

They're just trying to get in your pocket.
If your car is running good, no need for this service.

Most fuels have cleaners in them to prevent injectors from clogging up.

Marathon's gas has the worst gas treatment in it,STP.STP is one of the worst gas treatments out there,nothing but chemicals in it.Lucas and Chevron are two out there that are the best.Pour a certain amount in once in a while.Most parts store sell Lucas and Chevron.A bottle of Lucas fuel treatment goes for ten dollars.

I heard that Shell has a good product as well? Do you think so?
