Hello all! I got a good one for you guys. 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3L ext cab Z-71 4x4 with 197K miles. Problem: every other start, the truck will be fine for a second or two then bog out and turn off. I have to start it 2-3 times before it stays on. Strong fuel smell from exhaust. Once on road, shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are tough like if the tow/haul button was on, but no high revs like when tow/haul really is pressed. (feels like a shift kit). Ride feels sluggish. “Check engine” light lighted up. Error codes P0442 and P0102. Here is some history. Fuel pump went bad, replaced pump and filter and worked fine. Two weeks later, the water pump gave out. Replaced water pump, cleaned carbon with TB cleaner on throttle body while I was in there. Ran truck the entire day and worked fine. Next morning check engine light turned on. K&N FIPK was loose and corrected. “Check engine” still on with same trouble codes and same problem with truck. Other times the truck turns on normally, will not turn off, and shifts fine. This will happen when its hot or cold. one start it will act up and the other it be fine. I did forget to remove the TB sensor when i blasted it with the cleaner but would that cause the hard shifting?

You need to be able to look at some of the sensor readings (voltages). You could have the coolant or TPS sensor acting up, but without looking at their voltages you wont be able to find the problem.
