I know it's busy with summer, but I have not had big success with long time periods for swaps--
so--Could everyone make a July 21st due date? I could push back another week if needed, or wait to start it for another couple of weeks. Let me know and we can adjust if necessary.
SWAP: Creative Cards!! DUE DATE: 7-21-08 HOSTESS: jesskcarl
Create enough cards for your category-you can send a swap card or one for yourself (swap cards cut down on postage a little bit as it weighs less).
Please use high quality materials, embellished 3 times MINIMUM, envie included and embellished once (you can run a strip of coordinating PP along the side of the front or the envie flap, you can stamp it, etc.
Please use fun techniques--sew on your card, paint on your card, use stamps, emboss (with embossing powder, pens, or if you have one of those embossing diecut machines?), ink, distress, add ribbon or fiber, metal embellies, brads or eyelets (if you use these, I recommend doing it on the patterned paper or card stock and gluing it to the front of your card so it doesn't stick through to the inside). Most of all, HAVE FUN and show us your creative side!
Categories--open to suggestions here!
Group 1-Clear Cards: (you can use printable or regular transparencies--either can be stamped with stayz-on ink, or can be painted or use rub-ons). Ideas here.
Oh Jess! How fun! I am newer to the carmaking,so I would have to make sure I'm doing them right. But I have lot's of cute stamps to use for this. Do we just do cards like we want, like a certain number, or are there criteria? The sheetload full of cards would be great for this too! You could get anywhere from 6-9 done. Or do you want them like all different? I'll check back. I would love to do this one! Have fun at the party!

Id like to try this also,,I am just starting the card making and see it is becomming a obsession!.This would be a card made, for a category,,for the amount of people in it,,embellished at least 3 times,no less,,and also send with a envelope,,bought or made(?) right?Ive never made a envelope before. This sounds like fun!

I've got you down for the dog category-are you making a b-day card for that, or did you want into a b-day category?
Thanks for joining!
Everyone else who expressed interest in joining--let me know which categories you'd like to be in--or let me know what categories I should be creating!

Jess, I would like to be in the animal group. I would like to do a cat card. Also, could I have a spot in the blank group. Does this mean we can do them how we choose? Thanks!

-OhioDonna, yes make enough cards for all the people in the category-embellish at least 3 times, and decorate an envie at least one time. I haven't made envies before either. I know lots of people make their own cards, I tend to use the DCWV (diecutsw/aview) packs of cards that I pick up on clearance at jo's or mike's. (they come with envies, so just have to embelly once).
Aymee-as far as how to make them--you are welcome to make them all the same or to make them different (within which ever theme/category you are signed up for). Sometimes I make different versions because I get bored....but sometimes I just kind of set up an assembly line and make them all the same.

Ladies, I am so sorry that I didn't get into this one. I know I expressed interest to do so, but things just really got complicated here. I had just opened the recipe swap and am finishing up Barb's 6 x 6 swap. But, my mother-in-law fell and broke her shoulder in May, was hospitalized then we placed her in a nursing/rehab center. She is 90 and had been living with us. Things were not going well with her at the rehab center (she's very difficult). This past week we had to move her to a nursing home closer to us, so we can go quicker when the home calls us for some support. On and on. Anyway, I didn't think it was fair to myself or to the others in the card swap to sign up and then not be able to do a great job with what I produce. So, I chose not to sign up. I am sorry that I have limited the swap. I apologize to you, Jess, Shauna and Aymee. I hope to join in another one in the future.
Pam
