I am going to host a new swap for scrapbookers who are also quilters or sewers or both. For each group that you sign up for, you will send the following:
1. One 4" x 4" matted quilt block (made from paper or fabric) or one 4" x 4" matted sewing piece (made from paper or fabric). I've added a post below with examples.
2. One tag (minimum 1 1/2" x 3" or bigger) quilt embellished or one tag (minimum 1 1/2" x 3" or bigger) sewing embellished.
3. Two additional quilt related embellishments or two additional sewing related embellishments. Ideas - one yard ribbon, four brads, buttons, charms, stickers, etc.
Please plan to submit your very best work. I would suggest that you sign up only if you have swapped with me before or you have another hostess here who can vouch for your work. Please understand that I usually love to have beginners in my swaps, but this is the kind of swap that isn't really suited for beginners, since it requires such detailed work.
The due date on this swap will be July 19, with a return date of July 21. The groups will start small and enlarge, as needed.
I look forward to having quilters and sewers alike join in on this swap! If you have questions, please ask.
Quilting 1. Host 2. 3. 4.
Sewing 1. Host 2. 3. 4.
Thanks! Pam

Hey Pam--any photos/examples? Sounds fun, not sure if I'll be able to join, not getting much scrapping in since I have to bump down to the basement right now, but I was curious!

Here is a sample of the 4" x 4" quilt block. It is a log cabin block made from paper and ribbon for the border. Normally, I would miter the border edges, but the ribbon had sticky adhesive and I wasn't able to make it work. For the tag, I would probably use the same log cabin idea, the ribbon and a couple of charms (thread, scissors, etc.). For the quilt group, you can use any quilt block that you like and again it can be made of paper or fabric.

Here is a sewing piece sample. I used mulberry paper for the background. I sewed on the ribbons (I think another time I would weave the ribbons at the top). Then I sewed on silk flowers to complete it. And, I think I will add some brads to the center of the flowers for a little more pizzazz. Again, the tag that I would make to go along with this piece would probably include the ribbons and the flowers and some brads in the center of the flowers. You can make your piece using any type of sewing technique; machine, hand sewing, embroidery, etc. You might want to make your piece using lines of different sewing stitches, etc. Just have fun!
