More information would really be required for anyone to respond and help you.
How large is "very large"? Is it paneled, painted, and if so what color? What color are your draperies and carpeting? How much lighting is there in the room? What are your preferred styles of decorating?
Turn it into a chalkboard wall, or find a large stencil and jazz it up that way. Look on Pinterest! I recently painted the wall in my laundry room with a chevron pattern and it looks great!! It took a long time to tape off (about 5 hours) but it was worth it!!
Also, does anyone have any experience with removing grasscloth on the walls? It's a heavy textured wall covering they used alot in the 70's. My new condo has it on every wall downstairs, I think it's going to be a bear to take down! Hope the walls don't get wrecked...

It is removed like any wallpaper. How well it comes off depends on how it was installed. If you're lucky the walls were painted with an oil base primer before the paper went up and they were sized. If you're unlucky it was installed on unpainted drywall or drywall with just a flat coat of paint on it.
Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.
My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Large and a big window less wall is a perfect canvas for creative ideas, the decorator usually take all walls to decorate it with perfect ideas and designs. You can decorate the large wall with beautiful frames, classic wall clock, with scenery, you can also decorate wall with nice wall designs.
