Somewhere I heard, saw or red that you can make the size of a room appear larger if you paint the ceiling the same color as the wall - is this true & does it only apply to light colors?
I heard/read/saw that if you want your room to appear larger, you should paint the ceiling a shade or two lighter than the walls. I think it was on Decorating Cents, but I could be wrong. I am not positive that's where I saw it, but that sounds right. It makes sense to me that if you paint the ceiling darker, it would feel more closed in, so I definately wouldn't try that. I just saw something that was talking about the ceiling was the fifth wall in a room. Try it! It's only paint, so if you don't like the way it looks, just paint it again. Good luck!

When Painting a room that you want to have the feel of being more open painting in an off white or lighter color with the ceiling the same color will have that effect. http://interior-painting-diy.blogspot.com/2008/03/connectin-open-room-colors.html
I agree with that the ceilling colour had better the light colour. we can feel the space be larger by colour and also the perspective, so maybe hanging a perspective drawing will open our view.
