I am going to be doing my youngest sons big boy bedroom this weekend and I can not for the life of me decide on what type of wood furniture I ought to buy. The room is all wood, and nice wood, also wood that I can not paint per the landlord, so I have to work around that. The furniture in there now is a honey colored wood, but it seems so stuffy with all of that wood everywhere, even more so with it being such different types. I am thinking maybe white or black or perhaps a blue? I also have yet to settle on a theme, I want something that will open the room a bit more and brighten up some of the dark wood in there. I also have a lot of areas that I will be doing fabric in and while I dont think I will use all themed fabric for every area I want to use coordinating colors. Any help would be great!
PS the shelves in the picture will be getting coordinating colored storage I believe. The whole room is the lighter colored wood and then we have a full wall of the built in shelves in that dark wood.

I have seen some very good pine wood furniture recently. It is strong enough and having natural color to be used as outdoor furniture, so hopefully that would be strong enough to cope with a teenager.

Unless you have a ton of money do not over think or over spend on this one.
Little boys grow up, there going to be spilling airplane glue, model paints, running there toy cars across it and scrathing it up.
A soild wood piece will hold up better and could be refinsihed later on as his taste change.

I need furniture that is strong enough to hold someone over 650lbs+ and about 7ft. tall. Getting a little tired of buying sofas, bed frames, ect. What would you recommenced? I tried to build a bed frame once but it didn't work. I should have been a carpenter...

mattress just laying on the floor should hold up.

OK that helps a lot ...lol Sorry but I hate to see a mattress on the floor and it would look great in the living room. Those metal chair help but even them break. We are hoping that his new medication will help with the weight.

bring the picture of the room with you when looking for furniture, and pick something that you like against those colors. you can tie stuff together with art, rugs, etc. I can tell you what looks good to ME, but lots of people on the wider internet will upchuck on their keyboards. style and tastes differ.

I especially like the idea of pink or purple with possibly blues or lime green for the furniture. The room would be colored like a giant Easter egg. But at least the youngster would be up early - who could rest with that psychedelic color combination?
