Hi everyone, I am on a very very tight budget with a garage conversion. I am converting my garage into a at home salon. This came at a spur of the moment and therefore my budget is limited. The issue I have is the ceiling is plywood. I am attaching a picture and welcome any suggestions. My theme is glam Hollywood and my colors are brown,black,teal,silver, and touch of deep pink. OK, first off - That is not plywood. Rather, this is stuff called OSB (Oriented Strand Board) OSB and plywood are often used for the same purpose. OSB is cheaper.

Short of completely covering the OSB with some other material, there is not much you can to do get rid of the 'chipped' OSB look. OSB can be painted and/or covered with a texture surface, but that flake pattern will show through all but the thickest coatings. Add to that is the fact that you have seams every 4' in one direction and every 8' in another.

The least expensive 'fix' would be to cover any exposed seams with 1/4" lattice. You may want to add some extra lattice trim so that you have a series of 4'x4' squares rather than 4'x8' rectangles. Once the seams are covered then paint the entire ceiling one color.

A nicer looking but slightly more expensive treatment would be to cover over all the OSB with drywall. Once painted, this would be a 'normal' ceiling and would look very finished.

Marlite "milkhouse" panels would make sense here on the ceiling for a limited time. particularly if you can get some in black or silver for your color scheme. don't forget to use a real good construction adhesive liberally in addition to nails. I like Jaybee's idea of putting a lattice of maybe quarter-inch thick one-by on the ceiling, you can use that to conceal real nails with heads on them for the holding power.

Water, electric, supply, etc.
Tools of the trade.
Business license, insurance, permits, etc.
Advertising, supply.
Issues such as parking etc..
I am sorry but I don't see this happening unless your idea of a tight budget is different then mine.?
