I just moved into a new house and I'm trying to think of creative ideas to to decorate this ledge. Its about 11 feet high to the ledge, and there is about 8ft from the ledge to the ceiling.

I was thinking about putting a huge vase up there and under lighting it. Thoughts? Opinions on colors?

Can you point me to a place for some ideas?

        Thanks!

I would use a tall spiral type tree maybe with tiny led lights.

Find a really nice wicker container and put some ivy (plastic and realistic) draping over the sides. you can use a wicher chest like they sell at Target or world market.

Or you can find a decorative statue or pot from a local nursery.. something with nice unusual artistic shape... if it needs more, put an unusual plant shape in there like a grass or ivy. (again plastic because that is way too high to water).

I have a similar ledge.. and I have a long metal decoration of cowboys on horses.. I am going to put a nice stained wood board with a groove in it to set my piece in and that will make it stand on "it's own" (that should be a wall piece but I am re-purposing it) and it can have backlighting if I want to get up there to wire it.. but I have a window right behind my ledge to bring light in. Right now I have a pot from a Mexican Pottery place I love up there with ivy dripping out of it and it is very nice.

        huggablejunk,

I can't say that I have ever seen a ledge quite like this one before, but if you want a simple way to dress it up without worrying about dirt or dusting if you were to put something up there you can look into purchasing a design from Simply Said. They have some awesome vinyl designs that look like they were painted right onto the wall. They are really easy to apply and won't damage the paint when you remove them. If you want to look at the designs they have available feel free to visit my website www.mysimplysaiddesigns.com/kimmi or email me at kimmisimplysaid@gmail.com.
Hope this helps with your ledge delemma Smile
