This week-end I watched Desperate Landscapes: Episode Desperate Turnaround. In this episode the host used some type of channel molding with a cap to a install porch screen, does anyone know what was used? Seemed to make the idea of replacing my screen on the back porch much easier. Appeared as if he pressed the screen into a channel tapped a cover over it cut the excess screen and he was done.
My husband and I thought Screen Tight was the same stuff as well. Went to Home Depot and checked into it, but on the show there was no spline involved, it looked as if they were just using their fingers to tuck it into a channel and then pulling it taunt before capping. Maybe they didn't show all of the steps on the show. Thanks for any help
Um, your questions were answered under your first post of 4-15 in the Windows, Walls and Doors section
Sorry, didnt realize I wasnt allowed to ask again if the answer wasnt correct.
You can post as many times as you like but it will make more sense to keep thing contained in the same thread.
I still think I was right though.
when thewy make a tv show. due to time restrictions, they do not always show all the steps. this really burns me up. because good people, like yourself, come on these boards and have been mislead. you cant install a screen with out pulling it tight. and you cant do it with your hands. they did not show using the spline, only installing the cap. which is a good idea, i like the cap.kinda dresses up the door........................................ well well well....i was wrong, and so are you jaybee..we both were....... i went looking to prove her wrong, and found i was.... http://www.screentight.com/prod-screen-tight.shtml
seems they do make a new screen channel that does not require a SPLINE but you gotta use a spline tool to install. so...she was 1/2 right and we were 1/2 right. its a draw lol
