Hello, my first post. Our current air conditioning unit is 15 yrs old and has gone on the blink. So we are going to replace it. Our home is 1800 sp ft with vaulted ceilings. The manufacturer we are looking at is ( Trane ). We are looking for a unit that is energy efficient, and works well while lasting a good amount of time. Is Trane a good unit? Could anyone suggest a quality manufacture for central heat and air units. We live in Northern California. Thank You.

There are many really good A/Cs out there. We use Trane because our local dealer recommends them. Could be Trane is more profitable for him or maybe less return service calls. I don't know. Three years ago I put a 16 SEER Trane on my personal home and we love it. We did have one service call 2 years afterwards and it was under warranty. I might also mention that we live in Hot Hot Texas! It replaced a 15 year old clunker, sort of like your situation. I also added another 11 inches of insulation to my attic. That there was a big low cost improvement.
