We lost pressue in our tub/shower faucet, called the mfgr and was told to take it apart and clean the dirt around it. We had to turn off the water in the house. We did it and it was fine but now when we turn the water on the pipes in the wall bang loudly 4-5 times each time we use that faucet.

Wecome to the boards.

There's air trapped in the line some place. Start at the hot water heater and open the pop off valve for just long enough for water to come out. Work your way from the water supply line toward the end of the line and open every faucet both hot and cold lines. Make sure not to miss the outside faucets, flush every toilet, turn on every shower.

Joe,

Thanks for your advice, however, do I open the pressure release valve or the water release valve on the hot water heater to remove the trapped air?

the temperature and pressure relief valve is called the T AN P and is also called the pop off. this is industery speak, if those things dont solve your problem. then turn off the water ,out side open your hose bibbs [outside faucets] open all your faucets and flush your toilets. now turn off everythint, except the faucet that was banging. turn the water on
go turn everything on then off. now try that faucet, that was making you mad

The pop off valve at the top nt the valve at the bottom. Air is trapped some place at a high area in the water system.
