I would like to tile my shower celling but on the shows you never show how to tile the celling of an enclosed shower. Can some one help. THANKS PATRICIA
Tiling my shower ceiling proved to be far easier than I had imagined. The suction from the thinset held the 12" tiles just fine with no additional support. You may want to place something soft on the floor just in case one does fall.
I do suggest "burning" the back of the tiles with thinset (applying a thin, smooth coat of thinset) in addition to applying it to the ceiling. That may help them bond to the ceiling more securely.
Grouting is no problem either. I mixed the grout only very slightly thicker than normal and applied to small areas at a time.
Have your floor covered with clean plastic and be prepared for a third of the mixed product to fall. You can recover it and reuse. Don't smile while working and breathe through your nose
One additional thing.. I don't know what access you will have to the studs but try to screw adjoining studs together in the corners to stabilize them. 3" screws should work. This will help control movement of adjoining walls.
Also consider using a matching caulk where the ceiling meets the walls rather than grout. Any wall movement will crack grout.
