        Is anyone familiar with the Kerdi/Ditra/Schluter tile backer products? Using their foam backer boards instead of heavy Durock looks tempting but it looks flimsy like it would flex and crack the tiles or the grouting.

        it is. that stuff goes on over cement board. you have to have a solid surface backing up the tile installation. then you waterproof it to stay with the ditra on the wall.
