#1 It should never ever been used in a wet area.
#2 It should never evey have been used in a wet area.
That stuff is trash and will do nothing but fall apart, delamininate and cause way more damage and mold behind the panels.

Remove it and add an acrilic enclosure, even a cheap paper thin one will do better then that stuff.

Probably a good idea to point out that it should never have been used in a wet area. Smile

On top of that, it will not hold paint well.

I totally agree that it should not have been used in the first place but we are unable to remove it at this time and need a quick fix.

paint will not stick unless the melamine top coat is sanded off. at that point, if the Masonite has not crumbled away already, it will before you know it, paint or no paint.

that stuff is called "milk house panel" in my neck of the woods, and it is assumed on the farm that it's going to have to be replaced early and often. its only good point is you can wipe it with disinfectant for maybe half a year before you have to replace it.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
