I have been remodeling the bathroom in my home. After some trial and error, we decided to tint joint compound with paint and use that instead of paint on the walls. I love the color we achieved but because of the moisture, I'd like to seal it some how with some kind of clear coat. Any suggestions for a good product that would work as a top coat?

No, don't use a clear coat over your tinted joint compound.

Instead, use a mildew resistant paint to mix your joint compound into, like Zinsser's PermaWhite Bathroom Paint from Home Depot or Sherwin Williams "Bath Paint" sold at Sherwin Williams paint centers.

That way, you get the look you've decided on, and still have a paint that stands up well in a humid environment.

However, I also think I really should tell you that most posts are talking about removing texture from walls rather than putting it on. Flat walls are easier to clean, easier to fix and easier to paint. So, I'd try to keep whatever you do with your paint/joint compound as flat as possible to keep it as easy as possible to maintain.

But, paints meant for use in bathrooms is definitely the way to go as opposed to using ANY paint and then sealing with a sealer that wasn't intended for use in bathrooms either.

Sounds to me like it is too late and the project is done......... not a good choice in the bathroom in my opinion.

If you've already applied this jointcompound/paint to your bathroom walls, then don't start putting any sealer no meant for use in wet areas over top of it.

Instead, have some paint meant for use in bathrooms tinted to the same colour as your walls, and paint over what you have.
