I'm curious why is it hard to find any information on installing wood floors/ceilings in bathrooms when it is shown on Bath Crashers, but yet everyone on the discussion boards is saying that it is a bad idea because of moisture. I thought these programs were supposed to show things that could be done without any adverse problems.

The programs are going to follow manufacturers guidelines. For example, almost all floating floor manufactures say that their product can be installed in a bathroom - as long as you seal the edges with silicon. In reality it's a bad idea as moisture is going to find a way underneath.

Some people go through decades without a toilet leak, and are careful when exiting the tub or shower not to drip gallons of water on the floor. For them, the wood or laminate can work just fine in the bathroom, as long as the perimeters were caulked. (either type of flooring, I would retain a few boxes or enough to replace/repair it, if put down in a bathroom)

I know many who have wood in their kitchens and bath flooring and have had no issues.

Its all depend on type of wood used. How strongly it is intact with the floor? And what precautionary methods are you taking to avoid any rotting up.
