So I've seen an episode on Bathroom Renovation where a glass pane is installed in the shower area to let light in and give a view.
I told my contractor about putting an opening right under my shower head to let the most amount of light through to my shower area and put a glass pane in that opening. However he has no clue and I have to take the reigns. I've been trying to figure a way to secure it in the opening and keep it from leaking around the perimeter of the wall. Right now it has pine in the interior.
Need help closing this opening.

I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what it is you want to do. Can you give some more details?

Makes no since to me.
There's going to be a pipe running to the shower head right there.
What good it it going to do when it's going to just steam up?
How is a mirror going to add light?
SOunds like another silly idea they show on those stupid DIY shows that just does not work out in real life.

Well the wall I'm focusing on separates the toilet side to the shower area. This wall blocks light into this shower area and creates a dark void in the shower since my ceiling light does not reach the shower area.
Therefor an opening about 22in x 20in was framed 46in up from the center part of a 9ft x 30in wall. Plumbing was rerouted around the opening so a shower head is centered above the opening and the spout and the on/off valve is centered below the opening. Wonder board and tile went up around the opening of the inside shower.
Now Im left with an opening but no idea how to secure a clear tempered glass, NOT a Mirror inside this opening. The contractor left pine in the inside of the opening. It has a 5in lip around. Putting wood in this area was a bad idea on his part now Im left with trying to figure out what to do.
I was thinking removing the Pine in the perimeter and replacing it with wonder board and putting tile in it. But now then what do I do to properly secure a piece of glass in this area without falling into the shower or onto the toilet?
Need more info let me know or if pic helps i can provide.

No Mirror. And your right it was a good idea but now its a pain. Wish I heard that said to me before hand. Grrrrr.....

You have two phases to do to make this work:

1. Finish out the opening so that it is water resistant. That means treating it much like whatever is in your shower stall as a surround. This could be tile or any solid surface product like cultured marble etc.

2. Then, have a custom piece of glass made up. You'll need to use a 'C' shaped track that goes all around the inside of the finished off opening with the glass fitting inside the channel. Caulk everything in place.

3. An alternative is to work both processes together: Install the glass as above but install it first, then install your tile or other surround material and let it overlap the edge of the channel so that it is flush with the start of the glass. Seal all around with clear silicon.

In either method, best if the glass is as close to flush with the surround surface as possible. However, if you recessed the glass and gave a 10% pitch to the bottom piece in the opening, then you could use this as a small storage area.
