The shower doors in my home need to be replaced because they can not be cleaned to my satisfaction. Is there a way to replace only the doors, using the same track already installed?? I have a bathtub/shower enclosure, and would like to NOT have to remove all the metal brackets and screws, so if I buy replacement doors, will they fit right into the old tracking, if I have purchased the same size doors?
They will work IF you get the same size doors of the same brand. You MAY be able to make it work if you find a similar brand and modify the rolling hardware so that it works for your existing track.
Also, it's really not too hard to install shower doors. All the doors come with step by step instructions for install and only nee some basic tools. If your existing doors are old enough so that the glass is showing it's age then it's very likely that the aluminum frame is also past it's prime. New glass plus new framing could really spruce things up. Plus, it can easily cost you the same or even more to just get new doors if you special order them. Even if you just use the doors, you'll probably find the best deal by buying the entire kit - assuming that it's a match for what you have.
