Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
Currently in our bathroom, we have two oversized framed mirrors above each of our two sinks. The issue is that these mirrors are too large and partially cover the electrical outlets. There is a little room to play with above the mirrors inbetween the light fixtures. However I still don't have enough room to completely uncover the electrical outlets. I was thinking about building a ledger for the framed mirrors and possibly framing a box behind the mirrors to make it look like a vanity? This would bring the mirrors out a few inches making the outlets more accessible and bringing the mirror closer making it easier to see. Has anyone seen this done like this? Is it a dumb idea? LOL. Looking for ideas on how I can use what I have and make it work better without having to move the electrical outlets or buy new mirrors. When I looked at moving the outlets, the wall studs are not in ideal places and the outlets would end up not being centered. I'd like to avoid opening up the wall and keep it simple. Thanks!

I'm all in favor of replacing the mirrors. it's the easiest, cheapest solution.

I don't know what it would look like, but you could mount a board (2 x 4?)on the top and bottom of the the wall behind the mirror and then hang the mirror from that. Make the board at least 6" shorter than the width of the mirror and paint it the wall color. I'm not sure how this will look from the side - depends on your layout but I would give it a try.

It is really tough to compromise over large mirrors if people are die hard fan of large mirrors in the bathroom. They can use extension cords for their electrical supplies. Also they can go for small and water and shock proof switches.
