tile over basement concrete
I have an older (1954) home in Minnesota, and need to tile a newly constructed bathroom in the basement. the floor has seen better days. the floor has been busted up a few times prior to get at the waste water plumbing, and there was a halfassed patch job done over it. my plan is to use self leveling cement before I install the tub, but I need to know if a product like ditra is needed. I have installed tile and ditra before with good results upstairs, but I am not sure with a semi-colder climate if anyone has experienced cracking of the grout later on (due to the temperature changes or because of installation over two different types of cement: original pour and patchwork).
any response is appreciated.

While the Ditra is not needed for tile adhesion it would certainly help to isolate slab movement from your finished tile. If it's a bath, then it can't be that big. Go ahead and use the Ditra base.
