How do you attach durock or greenboard to a shower window like this...
I'm a complete noob here and I just can't figure it out. I ripped my old tub and tiled wall out of my 18 year old bathroom. The new tub is in and I'm installing the wallboard (using DuRock), but I can't figure out the window.

I'm going to install the wallboard on the wall so that it is flush with the board that I install in the sill.

I have attached a photo of the work area.

Should I go behind the window?
That back piece of wood is more like a wedge, I think the old board might have just been wedged between the window and the wedge and attached only at the wood on the front.

Any resources for window work?

Thanks guys!

The goal is to have the surface of the Durock on the same plane (or very close) to that of the window flange. It sure looks like you will get that if you run the backer behind the flange. Once you do that, seal between the backer and the vinyl flange with a good grade of silicon. Then, when installing tile, run about 1/2" or so of the tile over the top of the vinyl flange. You'll need to use a bullnose tile around the window.
